China’s rebar output increases by 0.4 percent in January-June

In the January-June period this year, China’s rebar production totaled 117.558 million mt, up 0.4 percent year on year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In the first six months this year, wire rod production amounted to 70.774 million mt, up 0.8 percent year on year. In the same period, China’s welded pipe output reached 31.32 million mt, up 11.4 percent year on year.

In June alone, China’s rebar, wire rod and welded pipe outputs amounted to 20.618 million mt, 12.541 million mt and 6.029 million mt, up 3 percent, down 1.2 percent and up 15.1 percent year on year, while rising by 3.46 percent, 7.83 percent and 4.71 percent month on month, respectively.

Rebar prices increased in June amid the rising trend of rebar futures prices, with the highest level in June of RMB 3,827/mt seen on June 16, and the lowest level in June of RMB 3,650/mt recorded on June 1, according to SteelOrbis’ data.
