In March this year, coal exports from Australian ports Hay Point, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT), Abbot Point and Gladstone located in the state of Queensland fell by 1.5 percent year on year and rose by 30.7 percent month on month to 16.17 million mt, according to data released by North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation and Gladstone Ports Corporation.
In particular, coal exports from the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT) in the given month totaled 5.25 million mt, up 26.0 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in March shipments from Hay Point decreased by 18.4 percent year on year to 3.36 million mt, while shipments from Abbot Point amounted to 2.68 million mt, up 21.2 percent year on year. In addition, exports of coal from Gladstone Port fell by 10.4 percent compared to the same month of 2022 to 4.88 million mt in March.
In March, supplies to Japan accounted for 27.9 percent of the total exports, while China, India and South Korea accounted for 18.8 percent, 18.2 percent and 17.0 percent, respectively.
