Apparent rebar consumption in Mexico increased 22.1 percent, year-over-year, in March to 381,000 metric tons (mt), according to data from the Mexican Chamber of the Iron and Steel Industry (Canacero) reviewed by SteelOrbis.

Rebar production in March was 400,000 mt, 5.3 percent higher than the same month in 2022.

As for exports, the volume of rebar shipped from Mexico plummeted 53.6 percent year-on-year in March to total 32,000 mt. According to Canacero's list of the 10 most imported finished steel products, Mexican rebar imports are negligible.

According to Canacero, the steel producers that manufacture rebar are ArcelorMittal, DeAcero, Gerdau Corsa, Grupo Acerero, Simec (through Aceros San Luis, Aceros DM and Siderúrgica del Golfo, Sigosa), Ternium, and TA 2000 (TYASA).
