Tata Steel Nederland, a subsidiary of Indian steelmaker Tata Steel, has announced that it has signed an agreement with Swedish metal company Boliden for the procurement of low-carbon zinc.

The agreement will meet a significant part of Tata Steel Nederland’s zinc needs for galvanized steel production and enables its customers, such as carmakers, to receive steel products with a lower environmental impact.

Tata Steel Nederland aims to reduce its carbon emissions by 35-40 percent by 2030 and to be carbon neutral by 2045.
