Brazilian heavy plates exports and imports increase in May

Brazil exported 11,900 mt of heavy plates in May, against 3,400 mt in April.

The shipments of May were destined to South American countries (11,100 mt at $1,027/mt)), and to Egypt (800/mt at $405/mt), FOB conditions.

The export to Egypt refers to downgraded product shipped by Usiminas.

The exporters were Usiminas (11,600 mt at $990/mt) and Gerdau (200 mt at $759/mt), while small volumes were shipped by traders and by CSN.

Meanwhile, Brazil imported in May 6,400 mt of heavy plates, against 3,600 mt in April.

The imports were from Europe (5,200 mt at $1,167/mt) and China (1,200 mt at $942/mt), also FOB conditions.
