Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that it will supply a Q-Heat induction heater to Japanese long product producer Chiyoda Steel to be installed at its Ayase plant in Tokyo.

The new 4-MW Q-Heat induction heater, which will completely replace the existing gas reheating furnace, will reheat cold billets up to rolling temperature in less than eight minutes with a productivity up to 20 tons per hour. The heater, which is suitable to meet 30 tons per hour productivity, will improve plant efficiency and flexibility and eliminate carbon generation from billet reheating process.

The new induction heater will be installed by April 2024.
