India’s steel imports up 8% in Q2 FY 2023-24, exports down 18%

Indian finished steel imports during the second quarter (April-September) of the fiscal year 2023-24 have been provisionally estimated at 1.5 million mt, up eight percent year on year, according to data sourced from ministry of steel on Monday, October 9.

Steel exports during the quarter have been estimated at 1.16 million mt, against 1.41 million mt shipped out in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

The data showed that steel exports in September amounted to just 0.16 million mt, a sharp 74 percent decline from September 2022.
