Mexico’s new car sales up 14 percent in November

New vehicle sales in Mexico increased 14.3 percent, year-over-year, in November to 147,971 units. It is the highest volume sold in a month in the last 83 months (since January 2018). Considering only the month of November of each year, 2024 is the highest volume in the last eight years, according to a SteelOrbis analysis of data from the national statistics agency Inegi.

Of total sales, five companies accounted for 53.8 percent; Toyota (7.4 percent), Mazda (8.5 percent), Volkswagen (10.6 percent), General Motors (11.3 percent) and Nissan (16.1 percent).

Of the top 30 brands, 22 increased their sales and eight decreased. Among those that increased their sales are Lincoln (39.8 percent), Mitsubishi (45.8 percent), Mazda (59.0 percent), Isuzu (135.9 percent) and Great Wall Motor (633.5 percent).

Among those that decreased their sales are Renault (18.9 percent), Acura (22.0 percent), Chirey (34.1 percent), Jetour (42.0 percent) and Jaguar (80.0 percent).

Companies with a positive balance sold 131,516 units (81.5 percent of the total), 19.1 percent more than in November of last year. Those that were in negative territory sold 15,898 units, 14.3 percent less.

From January to November, 1.35 million units were sold, 10.7 percent or 130,310 more vehicles than the same period last year. This sales volume is also the highest in the last seven years.
