Swedish startup GreenIron has announced that it has signed a collaboration agreement with Sweden-based steel distributor Scandinavian Steel AB for the latter to become the exclusive distributor of GreenIron’s fossil free direct reduced iron to be produced at its plant in Sandviken, Sweden.

The agreement covers a regular delivery of hydrogen direct reduced iron, which will be offered to the Nordic and European markets. Commercial production at the Sandviken plant is scheduled to begin in 2025.

“This partnership is a milestone not just for Scandinavian Steel but for the entire industry. Offering fossil-free iron to our customers is not only important - it is essential. We are proud to be the first distributor in the world to deliver this groundbreaking product to the market,” Peter Witz, COO of Scandinavian Steel, commented.
