US HRC imports down 2.6 percent in April from March

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot rolled sheet totaled 184,968 mt in April this year, down 2.6 percent from March and up 41.5 percent from April 2023 levels. By value, HRC imports totaled $165.7 million in April this year, compared to $166.1 million in March and $124.2 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most HRC from South Korea in April, with 71,964 mt, compared to 73,438 mt in March and 96,746 mt in April last year. Other top sources of imported HRC in April include Canada with 49,943 mt, Japan with 18,023 mt, the Netherlands with 10,593 mt, and Egypt with 7,231 mt.
