Spanish stainless steel producer Acerinox S.A. has announced that it will install an annealing and pickling line and a cold rolling mill which will optimize production and reduce costs and emissions at its plant in Campo de Gibraltar, Spain, which employs more than 2,600 professionals directly, including ancillary companies, and about 6,700 in total, directly and indirectly. Acerinox will improve its production equipment, offering products of higher quality and greater value to its end customers and providing significant reductions in the volume of emissions during the manufacturing process. The new equipment will come into operation by the end of 2017.
This investment is part of the company’s strategic plant for 2016-20 aimed at strengthening the activity of Acerinox in Europe and in the United States in anticipation of new opportunities in emerging markets. This new investment of €140 million is in addition to the sum of over €300 million the company has set aside for its Spanish plant in recent years to modernize equipment and keep this plant as one of the most competitive in Europe.
