At the close of July, Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) hit a record in monthly production of pig iron, crude steel and slab in their mills 1 and 2 as a result of teamwork of workers, technicians and managers at all levels.

Pig iron in the higher-capacity Blast Furnace 5 totaled 210,000 tons in July, surpassing the previous record of 205,000 tons in December 2011.  Liquid steel production also surpassed the marks achieved in the December 2011 high point, producing 314,000 tons of liquid steel in BOF 1.

BOF 2 slab production reached 373,000 tons, and slab shipment also reached a new record with 360,000 tons, higher than the 335,000 tons shipped in the previous record month of October 2011.
