Alpha Steel takes on Macsteel name

Newport Beach, California-based Macsteel Service Centers USA Inc. announced Wednesday that its recent acquisition, Alpha Steel, will now operate under the name Macsteel Service Centers USA. The new plant, located 19 miles outside of Chicago, is a large distributor of hot rolled and structural steel products, including structural steel beams, shapes, plate, sheet, tubing, and pipe products. It also operates an in-house processing center for hot rolled products. Company President and CEO Michael Hoffman stated, "With the addition of Alpha Steel, we have greatly strengthened Macsteel Service Centers USA's already solid presence in the Midwest. As we had expected, the company and its capabilities have been a perfect complement to our existing structural business in the Midwest. We are very proud to have them under the Macsteel Service Centers USA name." Macsteel Service Centers USA has a network of 32 locations, including the former Edgcomb Metals, Regal Steel, Baldwin Steel, Ferro Union, Hokin Katz, and Alpha Steel, all of which now operate as Macsteel Service Centers USA. The company processes and distributes carbon, stainless, aluminum and specialty metals to customers in North America and Puerto Rico. Products include flat rolled, plate, tubing, pipe, bar, and structural steel, as well as steel building products and coated metals.
