UK-based mining giant Anglo American Corporation has announced its production results for the third quarter this year. In the given quarter, iron ore production from Kumba Iron Ore increased by three percent year on year to 11.76 million mt, while the Minas-Rio mine produced 4.45 million mt, up 53 percent compared to the same quarter of 2015.

In the given quarter, Anglo American's metallurgical coal production for export remained almost stable year on year at 5.5 million mt, due to production ramping up at the Grosvenor mine, offset by the sale of the Foxleigh open cut mine (completed on August 30 this year) and geological issues at the Grasstree mine ahead of the planned long-wall move. In the same quarter, the company's nickel production increased by 66 percent year on year to 11,300 mt, following the successful completion of the Barro Alto furnace rebuilds in 2015.
