Luxembourg-headquartered global stainless steel producer Aperam SA has announced its financial results for the second quarter and the first half of the current year.
In the second quarter, Aperam reported a net profit of €43 million, decreasing by 67.4 percent quarter on quarter and by 86.4 percent year on year, while the company’s sales revenues amounted to €1.70 billion, decreasing by 9.2 percent quarter on quarter and by 31.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Aperam’s EBITDA moved down by 18.9 percent from the previous quarter and by 73.4 percent year on year to €103 million. In the given quarter, Aperam’s steel shipments declined by 6.9 percent quarter on quarter and by 13.4 percent compared to same quarter of 2022 to 550,000 mt.
Meanwhile, during the first half of the current year, the company’s net profit amounted to €135 million, compared to €622 million in the first half of the previous year, while its sales revenues amounted to €3.58 billion, down 18.5 percent compared to the first half of 2022. In the given period, the company’s EBITDA fell by 70.0 percent year on year to €230 million, while its steel shipments were down by 12.8 percent year on year to 1.14 million mt.
“We expect the environment to remain extremely challenging. Additional self-help measures will be our key focus in the coming months to strengthen competitiveness, increase flexibility and improve results,” Timoteo Di Maulo, Aperam’s CEO, commented.
