ArcelorMittal earns $51 million in Brazil by selling steelmaking residues

Steelmaker ArcelorMittal said it has earned BRL 203.5 million ($51.5 million) in 2015 through the sale of industrial residues generated by its steelmaking activities in Brazil.

According to the steelmaker, it reused 3.4 million mt of industrial residues in 2015 to make the additional revenue. The $51.5 million revenue came from the sale of more than 30 types of byproducts that were mainly destined to the cement and chemical industries.

ArcelorMittal said it invested in 17 new R&D lines in Brazil in 2015 in an effort to develop new applications for its industrial residues.
