ArcelorMittal Galati supplies steel for Osman Gazi Bridge in Turkey

Thursday, 14 July 2016 16:46:24 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Global steel giant ArcelorMittal has announced that its Romania-based subsidiary ArcelorMittal Galati has supplied 34,000 mt of flat steel to Cimtas, the Turkish company specialized in engineering and fabrication-installation of heavy steel structures in the construction industry, for the Osman Gazi Bridge in Turkey. The products supplied were shipped in four main lots, in a wide range and variety of thicknesses and widths.

The bridge, that connects both sides of the Bay of Izmit in northwest Turkey, is part of a 420 km highway project that shortens the distance between Istanbul and Izmir by about 140 km, cutting travel time from nine to 3.5 hours. The Osman Gazi Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Turkey, the second longest in Europe and the fourth longest in the world.
