The Ukrainian steelmaker ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, a subsidiary of steel giant ArcelorMittal, has announced that, following the negotiations with the plant's trade union committee, it has decided to cancel its decision to implement a three-day working week starting from August 1, 2009.

Accordingly, instead of a three-day working week, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih intends up to July 1 to work out other options directed towards cutting the plant's production costs. The producer also added that cuts in production costs will not be achieved through forced layoffs and salary cuts. However, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has implemented a program of voluntary leave, which has been extended up to July 1.
