ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has opened its new pulverized coal injection (PCI) system at its blast furnace (BF) No. 9, which is the biggest blast furnace in Europe.
The company stated that the project with an investment of about $60 million will enhance productivity, decrease operating costs and reduce the amount of natural gas and coke used at blast furnace No. 9. The new system was installed under the company’s extensive investment program worth around $1.2-1.5 billion.
