Global steelmaker ArcelorMittal has announced that it has launched a new ladle furnace at its Hamburg steelworks, which is Germany's fourth largest wire rod producer.

ArcelorMittal Hamburg has invested €3.5 million in the new ladle furnace expected to make a significant contribution to further improvement in the plant's wire rod quality.

According to ArcelorMittal's statement, the plant has its own direct reduction plant which generates up to 600,000 mt of sponge iron per year. ArcelorMittal Hamburg is also in the top group among the world's leading plants in the fields of productivity and energy efficiency, as stated by ArcelorMittal.
