ArcelorMittal has announced that its Czech Republic-based subsidiary ArcelorMittal Ostrava has officially commissioned its revamped continuous billet caster. The $53 million investment will improve the quality of steel and billets produced for industries including the oil and gas sector.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, the modernized billet caster enables the company to cast round billets for the manufacturing of seamless pipes with diameter of up to 400 mm compared to the current maximum diameter of 210 mm. The new formats will be used for the manufacture of high quality products, in particular seamless pipes for the oil and gas industry.
