The Marseille Administrative Court has decided to suspend the labor inspectorate’s order of the temporary shutdown of ArcelorMittal France’s steelmaking operations at Fos-sur-Mer plant, according to local media reports.
The court considered that the immediate shutdown would seriously undermine the freedom of trade and industry and called on ArcelorMittal to take new measures to reduce the exposure of employees to dust emissions.
As a result of the inspection, it was decided that the dust emission contained high levels of carcinogenic substances, risking the employees’ health, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
