ArcelorMittal to continue to supply rail to Deutsche Bahn until 2018

Global steel producer ArcelorMittal has announced that it has secured rail deliveries to Germany-based rail operator Deutsche Bahn (DB) until 2018.

According to ArcelorMittal’s statement, the rails will support the Deutsche Bahn network renewal and expansion program. Following this contract extension, ArcelorMittal will have supplied Deutsche Bahn continuously for four years. Future deliveries include 120 meter rails, suitable for high-speed trains; the 120m rails provide high safety standards due to a reduced need for welding. At the beginning of September, ArcelorMittal started delivering 1,200 mt of the 120 meter rails to renew a 20 kilometer railroad track between Rostock and Wismar in East Germany.

Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal and Deutsche Bahn are also cooperating to develop new rail products together.
