Global steel giant ArcelorMittal has announced that Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal Belval & Differdange has approved the revamp of its Belval electric arc furnace (EAF).

Construction is expected to start in March 2013 and will require a two-week shutdown. The new furnace is expected to be commissioned in April 2013. The company stated that, with the revamp, productivity and production capacity will increase, while transformation and maintenance costs will decrease.

ArcelorMittal Belval & Differdange will invest around €5.9 million in the revamp in total.
