ArcelorMittal USA, part of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, has announced that its three premier plate facilities in the US - Burns Harbor in Burns Harbor, Indiana and Coatesville and Conshohocken in Pennsylvania - have each achieved DNV-GL certification, which will allow the company to expand business opportunities domestically and internationally for plate markets such as shipbuilding and energy.

The company’s plate division sales manager Matt Habenicht stated that this additional certification is expected to grant the company entry into various industries and international applications which it previously was unable to secure; therefore, it should also open the door to more export opportunities.

ArcelorMittal USA produces a variety of steel plate products including high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA), commercial and military alloy, flame-cut products, and coiled and discrete plate. These steels are used in a number of markets including construction, distribution, energy, heavy equipment and shipbuilding.
