Argentinian industrial production declines in October

Argentinian industrial output in October declined 6.8 percent, year-on-year, according to data released by the nation’s statistics agency (Indec) this week.

Industrial production in the local automotive segment in October fell 10.8 percent, year-on-year. Following the same downtrend, industrial production in the local metal mechanic sector in October decreased 21.3 percent, year-on-year.

According to Indec’s qualitative survey, which measured the expectancies of the country’s industrial companies for the November 2018 – January 2019 period, on a year-on-year basis, 31.2 percent expect a stable pace for domestic demand. Another 9.8 percent forecast an increase in demand, while 59 percent anticipate a decline.

Out of the interviewed exporting companies, 50.9 percent expect a stable November-January for exports, also on a year-on-year analysis. Additionally, 27.5 percent foresee an increase, while 21.6 percent anticipate a decline in exports in the same period.
