Russian steel producer Ashinskiy Metallurgical Works (Ashinskiy) plans to increase its share of scrap, purchased through its own scrap processing facilities from the current 20 percent to 50 percent.

Accordingly, Ashinskiy is currently implementing a program for acquisition and creation of scrap purchasing centers in some of Russia's regions, which will allow the company to decrease its dependence on ferrous scrap price fluctuations. "Due to this program, Ashinskiy is securing itself with own raw materials already by 20 percent, and has plans to increase this share to 50 percent," the company stated.
