Australia starts AD investigation on HRC imports from four countries

Friday, 15 June 2012 17:52:07 (GMT+3)   |

The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service has announced that it has initiated an antidumping duty investigation regarding the hot rolled coil imports from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan upon the application by BlueScope Steel Limited and BlueScope Steel (AIS) Pty. Ltd. (BlueScope), the sole manufacturer of hot rolled coil steel (HRC) in Australia.

The application suggests that the products in question have been exported to Australia at prices less than their normal value and that the dumping has caused material injury to the Australian industry through price depression, price suppression, reduced profits, reduced profitability, reduced revenues, reduced employment, reduced wages expense and reduced return on investment.

The Customs and Border Protection Service stated that the investigation will examine HRC exports to Australia between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012 to determine whether dumping has occurred.

The goods subject to investigation are classified under item numbers 7208.25.00, 7208.26.00, 7208.27.00, 7208.36.00, 7208.37.00, 7208.38.00, 7208.39.00, 7208.53.00, 7208.54.00, 7208.90.00, 7211.14.00 and 7211.19.00.
