Australian RCR’s JV wins AU$150 million contract from BHP Billiton

Perth-based Australian engineering company RCR Tomlinson Ltd (RCR), together with its joint venture (JV) partner Australian construction company Laing O'Rourke, has announced that a contract has been received from BHP Billiton Iron Ore, for the design and construction of primary and secondary crushing facilities including overland conveyors.

According to the companies' statement, the contract is associated with BHP Billiton Iron Ore's Rapid Growth Project 5 in Western Australia's Pilbara region and is valued at approximately AU$150 million (about US$115 million). Design work will commence immediately with construction completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2011.

The contract will be carried out by LORRCRPT, a 68:32 JV between Laing O'Rourke and RCR.

The work will begin on the bulk of the proposed contract from July 2009, following immediate commencement of the initial design phase.
