Australia’s Chichester Metals plans to develop Nyidinghu iron ore mine

Australia-based Chichester Metals, subsidiary of miner Fortescue Metals Group, has proposed to develop and operate Nyidinghu iron ore mine, according to the Environmental Protection Authority of Western Australia.

Nyidinghu mine, located 80 km northwest of Newman in Western Australia, is expected to have an annual production capacity of up to 40 million mt of iron ore. The development project is expected to cost A$3.1 billion.

According to the statement, during the operation of the mine Scope 1 and 2 emissions are predicted to be up to 285,000 mt and 544,000 mt, respectively.
