The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2014.

In its hot rolling mill No. 1, Baosteel produces over 5.5 million mt of hot strip every year with widths between 600 and 1,900 mm and strip thicknesses of 1.2 to 25.4 mm. Baosteel operates an integrated production complex in the Baoshan district of Shanghai with an annual capacity of 7.5 million mt of crude steel.

With the new equipment, Baosteel will be able to make better use of the continuous casting capacities expanded in the past few years.
