Austria-based pipe producer Benteler Steel/Tube has announced that it has decided to close its welded pipe production plant in Rothrist, Switzerland, at the end of 2023.

The decision was made due to the unfavorable situation in the global welded tube market over the last few years and high raw material and energy costs.

The company was producing welded drawn tubes for the industrial and automotive industries at the plant in Rothrist which employed around 300 employees.
