Australian miner BHP Billiton has announced its production results for the quarter ended September 30, achieving an iron ore output of 66.68 million mt from its Western Australian iron ore operations, remaining almost flat year on year as the ramp-up of additional capacity at the Jimblebar mining hub offset lower volumes at Yandi mine. In September quarter, the company’s iron sales from its Western Australian iron ore operation totaled 65.36 million mt, declining by 2.7 percent year on year.

According to BHP Billiton, Western Australian iron ore production forecast for the financial year 2016-17 remains at between 265 million mt and 275 million mt.

In the given quarter, BHP's metallurgical coal production increased by one percent to 11 million mt, compared to the same period of the previous year. The company’s metallurgical coal production guidance for the financial year 2016-17 also remains unchanged at 44 million mt.
