Big River Steel starts first phase of production at new Arkansas mill

Big River Steel’s $1.3 billion “Flex Mill” in Osceola, Arkansas started production last Friday according to a company statement. Operations began at two units as part of a phased opening.

The company received a $125 million public investment in general obligation bonds to build the mill, with construction starting in September 2014.

In a statement, Big River Steel said it seeking to hire 425 people, at an average annual salary of $75,000.
