Brazil Minerals said it is in the “final states” of securing a new manganese opportunity in Brazil.

According to the US-based company, Brazil's department of mineral production, DNPM, is expected to grant the company the mineral rights for a “certain manganese claim,” which is seen by Brazil Minerals as “attractive for several reasons.”

The reasons include favorable local geology and formations, good transportation logistics, and “the fact that manganese is in demand for use in batteries and steel.”

Brazil Minerals said it has created a new wholly owned Brazilian subsidiary in order to “facilitate possible transactions with groups focused on non-precious metals.”
