Brazilian manganese producer receives permit to mine 30,000 mt of the product

Friday, 30 September 2016 23:05:34 (GMT+3)   |   Sao Paulo

Brazilian manganese producer BMC, a JV between Cancana Resources and Ferrometals BV, announced this week it received an extraction permit to mine 30,000 mt of manganese oxide material.

According to BMC, the quantity of manganese the company is allowed to extract is “significantly more than the standard extraction permit allowance of 6,000 mt.”

Anthony Julien, president and CEO at Cancana, said the development is an “endorsement” of BMC’s dealings with the various levels of government authorities. BMC’s current production output total to September 16, 2016 was 19,221 mt of manganese oxide product, it said, which already “exceeded the total output from last year.”

BMC said the extraction permit includes the Ademir Calefornia prospect; the publication of the extraction permit was “significant” as Ademir Calefornia is “believed to be one of the more prospective areas currently identified by the company.”
