Brazilian pig iron exports decline in April

Brazilian exports of pig iron reached 212,900 mt in April, against 437,500 mt in March, according to customs data. The decline reflects chiefly lower volumes exported to the US.

The shipments in March were destined to the US (141,000 mt at $484/mt), South America (36,400 mt at $465/mt), Europe (33,500 mt at $465/mt) and Asia (2,000 mt mt at 573/mt), all FOB conditions and price deals probably closed in February.

The shipments were from producers in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo (134,800 mt), Para and Maranhão, in the north (73,400 mt at $505/mt) and Mato Grosso do Sul, in the central western region (4,700 mt at $480/mt).
