The Brazilian exports of pig iron have reached 325,100 mt in May, against 214,600 mt in April, according to customs.

The destinations in May were the US (273,400 mt at $428/mt), the Netherlands (41,900 mt at $458/mt), Argentina (6,400 mt at $420/mt) and Asia (3,400 mt at $528/mt), all FOB conditions.

The shipments were from independent producers in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo (282,700 mt at $434/mt), and from the central-western state of Mato Grosso do Sul, (42,400 mt at $426/mt).

Such prices were probably negotiated in March, with indications of the BPI grade in the $400-450/mt grade and the foundry grade product above $500/mt, FOB conditions.
