Brazil exported 14,600 mt of heavy plates in August, against 17,400 mt in July, according to customs data.
The exports in August were sent to South American countries (11,200 mt at $1,306/mt, of which 8,500 mt at $1,452/mt to Argentina), Mexico (2,200 mt at $827/mt), and the US (1,200 mt at $936/mt), FOB conditions.
The exports to Argentina were destined to the production of pipes for the additional stretches of the Nelson Kirshner pipeline, linking the gas fields of Vaca Muerta to the region of Buenos Aires.
The exporters were Usiminas (9,700 mt at $1,370/mt) Gerdau (4,700 mt at $864/mt), and CSN (100 mt at $983/mt).
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in August 1,700 mt of heavy plate, against 900 mt in July.
The imports were from China (1,100 mt at $793/mt) and European countries (600 mt at $1,691/mt) also FOB conditions.
