Brazil’s industrial output in March declined 11.4 percent, year-on-year, but rose 1.4 percent, month-on-month, according to information released this week by the nation’s institute of geography and statistics, IBGE.
According to IBGE, the country’s industrial production in Q1 diminished 11.7 percent, year-on-year, and 9.7 percent in the same basis of comparison in the last twelve months.
Production of capital goods, intermediate goods and consumer goods in March fell 24.5, 10.9 and 8.7 percent, year-on-year, respectively, while output in the industry in general decreased 11.4 percent, year-on-year, in the third month of the year.
Out of the consumer goods category, production of semi-durable and nondurable goods in March diminished 3.8 percent, year-on-year. Output of durable goods in the same month declined 24.3 percent, year-on-year.
IBGE said Brazil's output at the machinery and equipment, and motor vehicles and trailers segments rose 8.5 and 2.7 percent in March, month-on-month.
Output at the nation’s metals industry decreased by 2.1 percent in March, month-on-month.
