Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 25.04 million mt in January of the current year, declining by 36.6 percent compared to December and up 7.5 percent compared to the same month of 2015, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in January totaled $656.1 million, decreasing by 48.3 percent compared to the previous month and down 45.2 percent year on year.
In January, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 619,969 mt, falling 46 percent compared to the previous month and down by 20.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $160.5 million, decreasing by 48 percent compared to December and down 56.09 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in January Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 235,711 metric tons, falling by 19.9 percent from December and up by 37.07 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $111.9 million, falling by 20 percent month on month and down 16.2 percent from the January 2015 level.
