Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 34.5 million mt in August of the current year, rising by 14 percent compared to July and up by 27.2 percent compared to the same month of 2015, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in August totaled $1.25 billion, increasing by 26 percent compared to the previous month and down 29.3 percent year on year.
In August, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 744,900 mt, rising by 45 percent compared to the previous month and down by 5.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $298.8 million, increasing by 58.3 percent compared to July and up 18.5 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in August Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 220,900 metric tons, rising by 12.7 percent from July and down by 42.5 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $139.2 million, rising by 32 percent month on month and down 27.8 percent from the August 2015 level.
