Brazil's motor vehicle output down 17 percent in January-August

Brazil's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) in August this year decreased by 3.57 percent from the previous month and fell by 18 percent year on year to 216,465 units, according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year, the country's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) declined by 17 percent year on year to 1,730,708 units.

New motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) in Brazil totaled 207,250 units in August this year, down 8.9 percent compared to July and decreasing by 23.9 percent year on year. 16.1 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles. In the first eight months of the current year, the country's new motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 21.4 percent year on year to 1,753,816 units.

Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in August this year (excluding agricultural vehicles) totaled 34,591 units, increasing by 21.87 percent compared to the previous month and up 9.3 percent year on year. In the January-August period this year, Brazil's motor vehicle exports totaled 259,983 units, up 10.2 percent year on year.
