UK-based steelmaker British Steel has announced that it has decided to resume production and operations at its special profiles business in Skinningrove, north of England, as of April 27, after a three-week suspension.

British Steel also stated that its Lisburn service center located in northern Ireland will return to normal operations within a short time. The company had furloughed a small number of employees who work at the Lisburn service centre, but they will also return to work on a phased basis as soon as possible.

British Steel CEO Ron Deelen commented, “With the appropriate safeguards in place, we’re maintaining production at our Scunthorpe and Teesside beam mill sites, including our two blast furnaces.”

The company had suspended production at its special profiles business in Skinningrove for three weeks due to declining demand, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.
