Building permits in Turkey up 14.2 percent in H1

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the first half of the current year amounted to 67,720, up 14.2 percent from 59,313 registered during the same half of the previous year. In the first half of 2014, the number of buildings authorized by municipality building permits totaled 80,556.
 
In the January-June period this year, the value of the buildings in question rose by 19.7 percent year on year to TRY 92.27 billion, while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits recorded an increase of 16.2 percent to 499,053, both year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in the first six months the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey increased by 0.5 percent to 52,735 buildings, compared to the first six months of 2015.
