Canacero, Mexico’s steel association, recently reported in a press release that it was invited to Washington D.C. to discus the implementation of steel quotas with the US. The quota arrangement could replace the 25 percent tariffs on steel products from Mexico. Canacero president Maximo Vedoya did not comment on his opinion on the quota suggestion. It is also unknown how such discussions will align with the ongoing North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) renegotiations.
