Italy-based plantmaker Danieli has announced that it has started modernization works at Canadian steel producer Algoma Steel’s wide plate mill in Ontario. The modernization project will enable Algoma Steel’s plant to expand its product mix, to produce wider plates and better control shape and surface quality, while also improving logistics.

The modernization works are scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2021, and will be carried out in stages. The company said the modernization process will not affect Algoma Steel’s operations or shipments.
