According to Statistics Canada, the composite price index for non-residential building construction in the first quarter was unchanged from the previous quarter. Higher material prices in the structural trades in Ontario were offset by decreases in Alberta.

Year over year, the composite price index for non-residential building construction rose 0.4 percent.

The composite price index for apartment building construction rose 0.1 percent in the first quarter compared with the previous quarter. The increase was largely due to higher material prices reported by contractors in the structural trades.

Year over year, the composite price index for apartment building construction rose 0.5 percent.
