Canadian iron ore company Champion Iron Limited has announced that it has temporarily suspended its operations at its Bloom Lake iron ore mine in western Labrador due to the wildfire in the region.

Prioritizing the safety of its employees, the company has started to gradually evacuate its workforce, with the wildfire only a few kilometers away from the mine.

Champion Iron also added that it is cooperating with the local authorities to minimize the effect of the wildfire on its infrastructure and that it will provide updates regarding the situation.
