Canadian iron ore production down 4.5 percent in January

According to Statistics Canada, Canada produced 5,153,532 mt of iron ore concentrates in January 2024, down 4.5 percent from December and down 0.9 percent from January 2023.

Canadian iron ore producers shipped 3,582,180 mt of iron ore concentrates in January, up 19.9 percent from December and up 2.7 percent from January 2023.

Closing inventories of iron ore concentrates at Canadian producers totaled 8,145,899 mt in January, compared to 7,653,763 mt in December and 9,074,741 mt in January 2023.
